Do I need to obtain planning permission?
Installation of all new water and sewage treatment systems require planning permission from your local planning authority.

What is a percolation test?
A percolation test is a way of assessing the rate at which water will drain into your ground.
The test is completed by digging a hole in the ground and monitoring the time it takes for water to drain away in minutes per inch. It is asvised that a suitably qualified percolation test engineer carries out percolation testing for you.
Do I Need a 20:30 or 5/5 Sewage Treatment System?
You need to make a consent to discharge application to NIEA. They will assess the results of your percolation test and specify the type of sewage treatment system required.
Where can I discharge to?
Depending upon the location of your site there are varies options for discharge including soakaways, ditches, streams & rivers and mainline sewage. You should consult your local environment agency for the best options available to you.
Can I install my Septic Tank, Rainwater Harvesting System or Separator myself?
DIY installation of all of our products is possible but we recommend using a suitably qualified groundworks contractor.
Can I drain surface water into my Septic Tank?
Surface water should be separately drained and should not enter sewage treatment systems.
Can I use the water discharged from my Sewage Treatment plant or Septic Tank?
No. This water should not be used for any other purpose.

How often should I desludge my septic tank?
Desludging (emptying) of your system is based upon several factors including size and throughput. A typical domestic system would need to be emptied, or desludged, once a year.
